My all-time favorite mouthwash

It's interesting how you find yourself involuntarily acquiring the insatiable desire to have the exact household items, grocery brands, etc...that your parents used when you were growing up at home. Now you're older, shopping for your own family and you just have to have those same specific items.
I grew up on this mouthwash in New Orleans. My Dad and Mom use it; my grandmother used it...So, after moving to Florida 5 years ago, I had the hardest time finding it. Store clerks said they had never heard of it; FINALLY, found some yesterday. My breath never felt so fresh.
So excited...Don't judge me!!!

Bachelor’s Degree in Cosmetology?

Did you know you could earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Cosmetology?

A lot of people are unaware of this. Not only can you earn a Bachelor, but a Masters as well as a PHD; that's right, a Doctoral degree in Cosmetology. However, to start these college courses you must already be licensed as a professional Cosmetologist.

Here's my story!
I graduated with my Bachelor’s degree in July, 2005, a month before Hurricane Katrina hit the Gulf Coast. I was living in New Orleans up until the time of mandatory evacuation. I intended to continue on with my studies to receive my Master’s and then my PHD, but life took a different course for me and so many others that I knew well.
I remember feeling an array of emotions during that time period. On one hand, I was overjoyed that my family, as well as myself was alive and well but to know others weren't as fortunate, made me sad. It was surely a blessing to have made it to safety with my loved ones, regardless of what we lost in the flood.
I, like many other New Orleans’ residents was not able to go back home, after the levees broke; which left me in limbo regarding my next move. No matter where I went, I knew in my heart, it would be temporary. Now, I’m settled in Florida and loving it!
Looking back, there is a small sense of disappointment that I wasn't able to finish what I started but sometimes life doesn't go the way we plan it and I am accepting of that fact.
I have lived to experience many other accomplishments in my life and for that, I am proud of me:)

I'm a juicer

I've never enjoyed sitting down snacking on an apple or a random piece of fruit. If I wanted a snack, I would opt for a bag of potato chips or something salty. I'm also, not a sweets eater, so fruit just wasn't on my agenda, period. The guilt that I experienced, though, is that I knew I needed more of it in my diet to be healthier.
I had purchased a blender some months back with intentions of making daiquiris, which happened only once or twice. So, I pulled it out of the pantry and just looked at it for a few days. I googled some recipes to get ideas. Next thing you know, I was a full-blown juicer in a matter of a week. I went to the grocery store and bought a variety of fruits and vegetables.
Here is this morning's blend...
strawberries
carrots
apple
banana
kale
pear
cucumber
&
ginger.

I usually just put a small amount of all of the ingredients. If you aren't careful, you can really pack on the pounds, so an 8 oz glass of your favorite cocktail is sufficient. I like to mix fruits and veggies together to avoid too much sugar from just fruit alone. This is a very refreshing, healthy way to ensure I add fruits and veggies to my diet. I usually drink it in the morning while walking my toy poodle, Laila.
By the way, I have now upgraded to a real juicer, not in place of but in addition to my blender. I've had so much fun experimenting in the past weeks with this. Just knowing I'm doing something great for my body gives me a little bit of an added ego boost. It's also been contagious-in the few weeks I've been doing this, I've shared with my close friends and they are now juicers too:)

My Reiki session with Millie Cruz-Reynoso

I had the most amazing Reiki session with Millie Cruz-Reynoso. I was referred to her through a friend who raved about her services. I just had to give her a try to see what all of the hoopla was about. As a Reiki Practitioner myself, I find it takes a lot to impress me, but that's with most things. I must say, she was on point and very in sync with me and I was absolutely impressed. We enjoyed each others energy so much, we ended up going to the spa and then to a Mediterranean restaurant where we had the best hummus and falafel. We talked and laughed so freely, as if we'd known each other for years. I know we will be life-long friends. Besides, after giving me Reiki, she now literally knows me better than any other person on earth. lol
